Mission

We are particularly concerned with the needs of management who are dealing with today's erratic business climate. We also recognize the immense contribution and increasing importance people play in organizational productivity, quality assurance, and effectiveness.

In developing support systems for several of our clients, we have accumulated a wealth of experience in assisting them in improving their performance and solving their operational problems.

Our basic philosophy is training and development of human resources in order to improve performance. Embodied in this training philosophy is the belief that it is of foremost importance to know the difference between development for the sake of development, and development for the sake of employees as well as organizational growth. In addition, we believe that learning is a process of goal-directed behavioral change. Thus when an individual has learned, s/he achieves a higher level of competence.

We believe that if any organization is to become a viable partner in economic development, the participation in economic development must come from all of our citizens and the communities in which we live.

History

Our firm has been in business for over twenty years. We have grown steadily and rapidly, and our partners are able to service a continuously growing clientele. Today, our many active practices cover the complete spectrum of accounting services, making us the right full-service firm for you.

David McQuay, Jr., CPA, P. A. (successor to McQuay & Co., CPA, P. A.) was created May 2000, as part of the reorganization of the predecessor firm of McQuay, Garrett, Sullivan & Co. CPAs, which was established July 1980. Our office is located in Hillsborough County, Florida, 110 N. Lincoln Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33609. We are comprised of four (4) CPAs, two professionals, and two support staff persons.

Background

As a professional association of Certified Public Accountants, we are organized much like a medium-sized corporation. Although we are a full service auditing and management-consulting firm, the majority of our services are to Federal, state, local and nonprofit agencies. Our firm has serviced a variety of nonprofit organizations with various missions. We have served as auditors for the U. S. Department of Labor, The Housing Authority of City of Tampa, Collier County Housing Authority, Tampa-Hillsborough Urban League, Inc., Pinellas County Urban League, Inc. and the Tallahassee Urban League, Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, and the Town of Eatonville, Florida, City of Gretna, Florida and the City of Midway, Florida.

While we are regional in capability, we are also local in attentiveness. We can draw on a very large and resourceful organization to deliver all the technical expertise you require—but without the sacrifice of personal service.

The managing partner, David McQuay, Jr. established the accounting firm with a single principle in mind: to provide the highest level of personalized client service possible. Simply put, He cares about each and every one of the firm’s clients. Each client always will be served by David, and you will never have to worry about how many other accountants have access to your private financial affairs or whether a new staff accountant has the proper experience to give you the right advice. Our accounting firm was established to provide efficient, expert solutions to businesses and individuals in a cost effective manner. Our primary services include auditing, accounting, taxation, and business consulting. We also offer a host of specialty services to cater to the unique needs of our clients. Our partners and staff accountants serve a wide range of, individuals, corporations, partnerships, non-profit and governmental organizations and are experts in the governmental auditing issues and compliance requirements that impact our non-profit and governmental clients.

Our Director has the benefit of years of experience gained from previous positions. David McQuay, Jr., CPA, P. A. is a minority-owned certified public accounting firm licensed in the State of Florida, under the Department of Professional Regulation—Board of Accountancy (File No. AD 63091). The firm is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).

As a State Certified Minority Business by the Florida's Office of Supplier Diversity, we are often sought as joint venture partners on several governmental audit and accounting engagements. We have established relationships with most “Big 5” accounting firms in the state; not only because of our minority firm status, but also more importantly because of the sincere dedication and expertise our staff possesses in the audit of local governmental units and federally-funded programs throughout the United States.
